Sometimes, when you feel like you're at your lowest, God Almighty jumps in the middle of your mess and shows you the Way. I experienced this first-hand this week.
I was informed by my now-former employer that, due to budget cuts, my contract would not be renewed for the next school year. I have been on unemployment all summer long and was looking forward to going back to school in the fall.
The next day, however, God Almighty Himself jumped into the middle of my mess. I got a call and an email, out of the blue so to speak, from a local college. I went in for a couple of interviews and was hired as an American Literature instructor.
I declare this as the handiwork of God Almighty because it was 11 years ago that I finished a Master's degree in Humanities with a focus in American Literature. I had tried over the years to get a position at any one of the numerous community colleges around without success. I had pretty much given up on the idea that my education was ever going to be useful. But God had other plans. Anyway, I start Monday night with at least eight students and I still have some prep work to do tonight.
Bottom line is, don't give up on yourself when times get rough, and especially don't give up on God. He hasn't given up on you.
